Lamesa ISD awarded the 2018 Principal Preparation Grant!

Lamesa ISD has recently been awarded the 2018 Principal Preparation grant from the Texas Education Agency.

The purpose of the Principal Preparation grant is to provide local rural and/or remote school districts a funding opportunity to build strong campus leaders through principal residencies.

Lamesa will receive $52,000 in grant funds over the next 18 months (2018-2019.) These funds are to be used to aid a selected number of local teachers in pursuing their principal certification and participating in” on-the-job” training of campus administration. In return, these selected teacher-to-principal candidates will commit to staying within the Lamesa school district 3-5 years and obtaining campus principal positions.

Texas has over 1,200 public school districts; however, Lamesa ISD was one of only 26 school districts that received this highly competitive grant award.
